I have XA with manual steering and trying to swap to XF power steering box which I thought was pretty straightforward; just shorten the steering column. Haven’t seen it myself but apparently would have to modify the chassis for the power steering box to fit. The power steering box I have is supposed to be out of a 1985 XF Fairmont. Are there different types of power steering box? XA manual box top XF power steering box bottom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah, I contacted crow cams and their recommendation was to lock the cam and run a regular AU grind.

I can measure this, as I have each variant of XG, plus XH and XF utes. -
Like I said, have a chat with Crow Cams and/or Clive Cams, they might have grinds that are suitable to use with VCT.

I couldn't believe it when I went to bolt it in,trims were in such good condition, then painted them and don't fit, another x file. -
Thanks for the info. Looks like my engine will be a VCT in name only🤣

Here is another one,xg kick panel seat belt hole is further up than xf,behind it says hole for 92 and hole for 94,so I had to drill out the 92 and put a blank behind the 94 one ? -
The point of the VCT is to advance and retard the cam's timing to suit various conditions. Advancing cam timing boosts torque at lower rpms. Retarding the camshaft at higher rpms boosts power. This allows the engine to make more usable power over a wider rpm range than the standard engine. Using larger duration and higher lift cam(s) would cause piston to valve interference when the VCT attempts to do it's job. If you are looking for a lot more power, just lock out the VCT sprocket and use the appropriate cam to suit your needs.
